Start using I, Librarian

To start I, Librarian, open your Internet browser and go to the address for the library. This is usually, or, but you can use your static IP number, or your qualified server domain name, if you have one.

I, Librarian is very flexible. You can use it as a groupware or your personal software. In both cases, however, you need to create an account first. To sign up, click on the "Create Account", enter a user name and a password of your choice. After that, click the "Sign Up" button.

Now you are signed in, and can start using I, Librarian. I would suggest that you first check whether I, Librarian is correctly installed. Go to Tools->Installation Details. If you see green OKs, it means the required feature is met. Red exclamation marks mean that the particular feature is not correctly installed.
Finally, you should head to Tools->Settings and select your desired settings for I, Librarian. Your Internet connection settings are important if you plan to search external databases like PubMed, NASA ADS and others. If you access the Internet through Proxy, enter its address, port number, and if required user name and password for authentication. These settings are identical to those in your internet browser. Alternatively, you can use a pac or wpad file for automatic proxy configuration.

Another important option is the selection of a PDF viewer that you want to use to read PDF files. You can use your web browser plug-in (most likely from Adobe), or the internal built-in I, Librarian viewer.

You are now set and can start populating your PDF collection.
